The
above photo shows AMPHION dressed overall to celebrate the appointment
of the new Governor of South Africa in April 1937.. The flags are attached to the lines in a specific order set out in an official pattern that was in use by the RN and RAN from just after WW1 until 31st December 1948. What is unusual about this photo is that, for some reason, the line of flags hoisted between the Fore and Main masts has been hoisted back to front. |
