COLOURS USED ON THE ORIGINAL BADGE

The original badge was based on the Coat of Arms of the City of Perth, Western Australia. It was made of wood and measured 3'8"x 2'71/4"x 1".
It was carved in high-relief and mounted on a grey painted backboard.

CROWN: Gilt
SHIELD: Cross - red with black edging.
QUARTERS: 1st - Pale Yellow with black swan on blue and white ripples
2nd ,3rd, 4th, - Pale Yellow with light blue tracery.
SCROLL: Green edged with Dark Brown.
MOTTO: Black. "Let it Flourish"
SUPPORTERS: Black with red bill, legs and feet. Eyes white with black pupils. Collars gilt.

( In 1949 the yellow on the shield of the City of Perth coat of Arms was replaced with white.)

Ship's boats wore only the shield on their hulls.
